At Geeks On Repair, we recently completed a full diagnosis and repair on a custom desktop PC built around an ASUS PRIME Z790-V AX motherboard.

The customer came in after an unexpected hard shutdown left the desktop icons missing and raised concerns about lost files. We started with a complete non-invasive diagnosis — checking Event Logs, verifying all drives, inspecting the actual Desktop/Documents folders, reviewing the Recycle Bin, and confirming the system’s hardware profile.

We then delivered a clear written diagnosis that included the most likely root causes with probability percentages, exact findings, and a DIY guide so the customer could attempt the software-side fix themselves if preferred. We also listed the exact parts that might be needed and their real retail prices so the customer could purchase them independently.

After the customer authorized us to continue, we completed the icon/shell repair, performed a full internal cleaning, applied necessary driver and system updates, and prepared a data backup of the Desktop and Documents folders. Labor was charged fairly under our standard rate, with full credit given for the $60 already paid for the original diagnosis.
